Soviet IS-2 tank

Previous | Photo index | Next

This "Joseph Stalin" IS-2 tank stands by the Litsa front memorial on the old (northern) road between Norway and Murmansk. The cemetery for newly found Soviet MIA´s lies beside this memorial. A platoon of IS-2:s from the 73rd Guards Regiment took part in the liberation of Kirkenes and at least one of these is believed to have later entered Berlin in May 1945.
